1 Boadicea Dynamos v EC U10s 4
Weather was bright and cold and the boys mood was buoyed by their great performance last week against Falcons. But directly after the kick off at 11am, Earls Colne were on the back foot with several panicky episodes in defence and slow midfield and up front movement. Still looking as though they were half asleep, Colne conceded an early goal. What was happening! Were had last weeks team gone.
Allan found his voice now; calling on them to wake up and lift their play. And to the teams credit, they did seem to shake off the morning malaise and get back in the game, which culminated in a super solo performance by Colne's captain Tom, who worked the ball along the wing then moved into the goal area, past challenges, to pop it home to equalise. That's how it stayed until the half time whistle.
The team talk was basic: wake up and play like you know you can.
The second half saw a revitalised Colne take to the pitch. Possession seemed to improve, passing became accurate and crosses found our players in the right positions. It wasn't long before Daniel coolly knocked one in, followed by a third by Reed not long after.
Boadicea Dynamos (known as a good side) were now falling apart, and this showed in some incidents of shamefully dirty play, one of which required words from the Ref. But just as we started counting down for full time, Charlie glanced one in from a cross to add a fourth.
Well done for not panicking over the early setback. A cool performance.
