Earl Colne Under 10’s vs Oyster Youth

Result 1-3.

Date: Sunday 30th September 2007

It happens to every team and we're no different. This Sunday's match was our first defeat of the season.

The first half kicked off just after 3.00 pm on a bright and sunny afternoon. Hopes were high that EC U10s would do well, and for the first five minutes this was the case, with Tom forcing much of the play on the left wing and creating chances. But our only goal came from the right side. A lofted corner kick by Charlie found Reed who volleyed the ball over everyone's heads and into the top left hand corner.

After the goal some simple mistakes started to creep into our game and we gifted too many chances to Oyster Youth who equalized in the last five minutes of the first half.

The second half started well for us with several near chances and one shot off the post. Again, simple mistakes allowed Oyster Youth to pressurize our defense. This sustained pressure resulted in a penalty being awarded against us, but it was saved confidently.

It was still 1-1 when an exhausted Ryan and a limping Charlie were substituted. Before the new players could settle, Oyster Youth put two goals away in quick succession.

Commiseration's to the U10s and better luck next time.
