Under 11s Match Report

Sunday 10th February

Team Player Youth v Earls Colne Under 11

A beautiful morning was soon overshadowed by the frustration of having a small squad.

TPY are bottom of the league and we should have been optimistic but as we had 10 boys, it all seemed in vane. (We started the season against TPY and only had 10, every time we play a team that should be in the bag we have played with 10)

The navigational error was corrected by the Arkle family, a change of kit for William and Brandon as Brandon had injured fingers and was unable to go in goal, and we were ready.

The game started and all seemed equal and then TPY scored their crowd were delighted (after16 - 0 defeat last week). The coaches called to keep the heads up and get the game back. Kieran A scored and the game was back on, it was clear it was going to be a long stressful match. Kieran A took another shot but their keeper saved, but KA was on the floor and obviously hurt, his knee, he was carried off in distress. No subs so 9 boys! The game carried on but in our goal box, Alex C cleared the ball from near the line, then another great TPY cross which saw William tipped the ball around the post. Clapping and relief. Kieran seemed to be warming up, yes, he
went back on, and TPY seemed to score but offside given, thank goodness. From this onslaught EC made a break a fantastic ball from KA to Harry, and Harry scored a fine goal.

Half Time

EC started well with Jordan hitting a great shot which hit the cross bar, but then of course EC needed their second half rest, they stood whilst TPY made attack after attack, and scored their second, which I think was the great lob! Straight away TPY were back and William tipped the ball away, but a faff around the goal led to TPY's third. The EC fans were shouting and trying to get the side to play, the defence woke up, Jack, Jacob Brandon and Sam started to battle Harry was back helping. Alex H in mid- field remained steady, but looked tired, our hopes were with Jordan (yellow boots) who still had fully charged batteries. TPY had another corner, and took a shot; William kicked the ball out, but only as far as TPY who scored.

4 -2 and only five minutes to go!

The team were tired, Alex H had chased everything but now was in a bad way clutching his stomach, he too was under the weather. Kieran was not able to run to his usual standard, the knee still hurt, but yellow boots Jordan seemed to find that bit extra, he was up the wing, crossed the ball that found Kieran who scored. 4-3 and only minutes left. What happened next? Jordan again like a dynamo got the ball and powered the ball in to the net, a well-deserved goal for him.

5 seconds later the final whistle blew.

Final score 4 all.

A fair result.

Great TPY fans.

Lovely new ladies toilets!

Man of the Match: William Brown for his goal keeping.

All 10 boys did themselves proud, shame we didn't have a full squad.
