League cup game Sunday 18 November
Clacton United Blues v Earls Colne U11
It was difficult to find with some of the team touring Clacton, freezing cold and dog pooy, but the locals we friendly and shared the slightly sheltered area.
The game started with great passion from both teams, both determined to take the play.
A corner lead to Earls Colne taking the lead, not sure who and how the ball got in the net, maybe own goal. but we don't care! Given to Harry. The match was very exciting with both teams evenly matched, end to end, tackle after tackle, and passing the ball well. Great stuff, then they managed to score. 1 all half time.
The lads were feeling the cold, extra clothes added to some lads and lots of encouragement. The Clacton lads didn't seem to feel the cold as much.
Second half saw a goal from Earls Colne, from Sam. Our defence were working hard clearing the ball, well done Sean and Alex C. Brandon didn't seem to need to weeble as much as usual, but made some solid keeping. Then Jordan picked the ball from the half way line, he made an amazing run
at great speed and then kicked. It just missed the top left corner, if it had gone in it would have been fantastic!
Clacton returned and scored, oh no 2 all. But Earls Colne weren't finished and back again and another goal, might be an own goal, but again who cares, given to Kieran A.
The crowd were so excited and delighted that there would be no extra time as it was freeezing. Then Clacton levelled the score, 3 all and less than 5 mins to go. Our boys looked cold but still brave and all played well. With a minute to go Clacton scored again.
Final score 4 v 3
The Clacton team have won every game so far this season and their coach said it was the hardest game they have played.
Well done Colne you looked like a great team today and should be proud of your efforts. You all look fitter, better and more determined than ever before!
