Under 11s Match Report

Sunday 6 January 2008
Earls Colne V Stanway Rovers Yellow.

After winning before Christmas 9-3 we were not sure what would happen!

A cold but sunny morning, the team were reminded of what had given them that great victory:

You need to play as a team, passing, holding your positions, communicating and hard clean tackles.

The game started with EC taking control and pressure lead to an early goal, it was in fact an own goal but awarded to William as the player there.

Only minutes later Kieran A scored a great goal, you could feel the boys growing in confidence. For the next 10 minutes the EC pressure was relentless, with a goal for Harry and then another for Kieran A. The passing and space was there and then the boys seemed to loose their way for the final 10 minutes of the 1st half. SRY came back and all the action was in our own goalmouth, they had a number of shots wide and Brandon made some great saves. Jacob was seen to sprint back and clear the ball with the most confidence yet. There was a handball just outside the box but again the defence and Brandon kept SRY wanting their first goal.

Half time 4- 0

The team were praised for the first 20 minutes and then told how SRY could have 3 or 4 if they had been on target as the last 10 minutes was not good enough to win!

The usual reminders of position, space, pass and work hard.

The 2nd half saw SRY come out keen and they charged and produced a great goal, their manager shouted about time, ours shouted come lads get stuck in and concentrate! The team play return and so did the goals, 1 more for Kieran A then 2 more for Harry and Jordan scored, all great efforts. The SRY goalkeeper was making a number of great saves denying other lads from being on the score sheet, like Rhys.

It is very easy to mention the scorers and Brandon but the goals came from the squad, the mid-field playing an important part getting the ball safely forward and the defence are quick to clear the ball away, every lad contributed to the win!

The subs were rolled on and off to give everyone time on the pitch, this is important for morale, fitness and experience. All credit to the boys for their team spirit as no one moaned about being subbed.
Final score 8-1

William Brown 1

Kieran Arkle 3

Harry Lee-Allan 3

Jordan Sturmer 1

Man of the Match: Kieran A for his constant hard work.
