Under 11s Match Report

Under 11 match report Sunday 9th December

Earls Colne v F.C. Clacton

Score 2 - 3

After concerns of a water-logged pitch we started the game in sunshine.

This is the team we beat 3 - 2 in October.

Both teams seemed evenly matched, and were having an equal share of play.

They scored about half through the 1st half, we had received a number of offside calls as their defence moved up the pitch, some didn't appear to interfere with play, or is that a biased eye!

We didn't drop our heads, well done lads, we came back and Sam scored, not the most powerful of goals but who cares a goal is a goal.

Just before half time they scored again.

The team talk was keep passing, talking and hold your shape you are playing well, but we need get at them, tackle, win the ball and chase everything.

Second half saw us spend more time in their half than we have for weeks, our defence need to move up to catch them offside.

Then came our second goal from Kieran Arkle.

Rhys came off injured and said, 'who is in my position there is no one on the wing, they are all on one side!' 'Yes now you know how much space is lost, and they are all in each others way' came the reply.

The teams like Long Melford used a long ball to their winger who could run and scored unchallenged!

Then came their 3rd goal a great ball in just out of Brandon's reach. Brandon made a fantastic attempt and got hands to it, but it was such a good kick and he just wasn't tall enough, a great goal. Brandon as usual made a number of fine saves.

Harry had a good attempt but was called offside.

Well done lads you are really playing so much better but don't give up or get complacent.

Keep passing, talking holding that shape.

Have more bite, win the ball, chase everything.

You don't have to be nice on the pitch! Just clean and determined play.

Man of the match Kieran Arkle.
