Under 11s Match Report

Match report for Sunday 9th March 2008-03-10

Holland FC Blues v Earls Colne

Well let me set the scene: Holland are top of the league, still in loads of cups and would win the league if we lost and Long Melford lost.

With Jordan injured and two unavailable players we had 10 boys!

Yes we hoped of Barnsley v Chelsea.

The team talk was play hard, fight for everything but enjoy the game, good training!

We played a sweeper, 4 defenders and 4 mid-field, and of course a goal-keeper!

The game started well with lots of action, Holland scored, but Sam answered with a great pass from mid-field to Kieran A who was breaking free, the crowd were thinking wow, but the their goalkeeper got it.

Brandon had to make 2 great saves and then they scored. Brandon looked down but the crowd yell to keep heads up. Amazingly we broke again but soon they scored a goal right in the corner. We played a lot of the game in our half but kept on trying with the occasional break, the 10 boys were doing themselves proud. Hearts sank as the ball must be in the net but no Sean was on the floor on the line and some how got behind the ball saving it.

Jacob was kicking what he could up the pitch and Alex C, the sweeper, was sweeping here there and everywhere. Brandon started to weeble. Jack worked hard in defence, even though he arrived with a bruised knee, he
played his part.

Half time saw the score 6 v 0. The talk was you are doing fine, keep going don't give, have a banana but you must keep working.

Brandon seemed over his depression.

The second half saw much of the same with William tackling everything, and Harry making a good break and some long throws. Matthew and Colin coached hard from the line to ensure the moral didn⤙t drop and
that the team gave all they could. Kieran M ran hard and kept his position on the wing. Their goal keeper was always in the way. Brandon was very busy but did a great job, with only 4 goals in the second half.

Well the boys were praised for a gallant effort considering only 10 boys they did themselves proud, other teams have lost by more goals with a full squad. The team gave it all, well done lads.

Man of the match had to be Brandon (very muddy) Heaney.
