Well before I start last week saw a lethargic team, not this week. Everyone arrived promptly, were positive and wide awake. The play reflected this, it was one of the better team efforts, lots of hard work, passing and good team spirit. We even saw a number of EC headers! As no Brandon, Jack or Sean the back had to be rearrange, fortunately Robert was back.
Now the match.
Both teams started with a number of chances, William was soon making important saves, then at the other end, with Jordan having a good 'run, kick but not score'. William out of goal to intercept. Then Clacton scored from a corner, but unlike other matches the lads kept their heads up. Both Charlie and Michael K heading
the ball, well done. Another save and back up the pitch, Jordan brought down. Big Kick Alex C took the free kick, it just sailed over the bar. Clacton kept up the pressure and scored again.
Half time
EC 0 v Clacton 2
Team were still lively and our coaches pleased with the team, they were playing some very good football.
The second half started and another free kick just outside the box. Kieran A stepped up and booted the ball just over. Clacton responded with a goal. The whole team still together and Robert giving defence the extra strength needed, Alex C was a different lad this week, working hard. Michael R made a run at goal, good try, William made a good save, then another Clacton goal. Up and down the pitch, now Michael K trying to score and just missing. Could Alex H repeat last weeks great goal, no, but he made some great passes. Sam, also in defence, made a positive contribution to the team.
Just not our day
Earls Colne 0 Cacton 4
Man of the Match: William Brown (other players also deserved the title due to their performances).
Comments:
The game was far closer than the score reflected, both teams working hard at both ends of the pitch. We played some great football, some of the best this season. A great team spirit and effort, just a bit of luck needed.
Next week a return meeting at Clacton, take all the positives with you and good luck!
Thank you to everyone who put the goals out and away.
