Earls Colne 1 – F.C. Clacton 7

Well a milder day than recently, the team arrived in dribs and drabs and the atmosphere lacked enthusiasm and desire from some. The opposition warmed up with desire and discipline. The opposition had to help get the goals out as Matthew and Glen struggled alone!

The match began with FC C dominating possession and it wasn't long before they scored. Earls Colne kept their heads and Kieran A hit the post. FC C kept the pressure on Brandon who made a number of important and great saves. EC just lacked the desire the started to show before Christmas and were seen to watch FC C win the ball. The tackling was half hearted on occasions. FC C took two more goals this half but their was hope when Michael K scored. The EC heads lifted. FC C were faster down one side and able to make space.

Half time 1 v 3

Jordan and Alex H swapped wings so Alex had more space and Jordan could use his pace. This worked and Alex made a number or great passes, and FC C found Jordan fast. Some great passing lead to a tense goalmouth scramble, Kieran A, William and Charlie all desperate to find the net but it just would not cross the line. FC C made a number of attempts for Brandon to stop, then they scored and Brandons head dropped, always a bad sign. The team were no longer encouraging each other but bickering. Lowering their morale and lifting the oppositions. Jordan was brought down and Kieran A took a free kick which sailed over the cross bar. Then another free kick by Kieran A, on target but a great save. Back to Brandon and another great save but FC C soon scored twice. Next Jack was dancing on the goal line and made some interesting clearances but they finally scored again.

Final score 1 v 7
Man of the match: Michael Keen
Scorer Michael Keen

Comments:
Need more passing
Need to play together. Encourage not bicker.
Need to turn up with the right attitude: desire, determination, energy (some parts of game lacked all these essential qualities)

Please can everyone arrive on time and willing to help with goals etc. Thanks Paul G for running the line.
