Well where do we start it wasn't a game of 2 halves more like a game of 40 mins and 20 mins!
It all started so well with Charlie hitting the post but soon Halstead put pressure on Brandon, this was a team with determination,
Brandon made a number of saves. The play was in the wrong half, Michael R headed the ball, Jordan cleared our goal and then Jordan nearly scored. Brandon and Jack saved with calls for hand ball. This was not the team we played earlier in the season, they were determined and causing us problems. Our boys just seemed to
lack any speed, enthusiasm or desire. It could go badly wrong. Brandon kept his head and worked hard, with solid help from Sean.
Half Time 0 v 0
The boys needed to work harder and as a team, Halstead were in danger of winning this.
The second half continued with a lack of oomph from us and the inevitable happen Halstead scored (Lewis Tuthill) with a great
ball. You could feel the oh no. Halstead were delighted after such a tough season. More of the same and Kieran A had dropped his head, the moaning began, and then Kieran A went down injured. The green bag run to the injury expecting him to jump up, no he stayed down, but Roy (the opposition manager) offered to do the first aid, no way it was green bags day. Kieran A was taken off for a quick repair. This was the turning point of the match, Kieran off and Alex H scored a great goal! Earls Colne suddenly woke and their legs seemed to find speed and all those things you need. (Or was lucky kitchen role in the KA sock). A good run down the wing but a miss, then a good move which missed, Jordan then just missed. This was more like it, but was it all too late!
Some great work from the team, Jack blasted the ball up the field, and soon Sam scored. Jordan had worked hard and the ball went to their keeper, his only mistake of the match, yells of chase it to Jordan, he followed the ball in and blasted the open goal. Halstead hadn't given up back to Brandon who saved, then a blast and Jack blocked with his bottom! The final whistle at last.
It's fair to say Halstead were far better than our previous meeting and in the fisrt 40 minutes it could have gone either way and probably theirs.
Earls Colne 3 v Halstead 1
Man of the Match: Sean Bayes (a solid performance with Brandon a close contender)
Thank you to everyone who put the goals away.
Thanks to our lino (Andy)
