Sunday 1st March
Harwich and Parkeston 4 – Earls Colne 2 (Harry C, Harry LA)

The second week in a row and a 4-2 score line. It started so well – Jake hit a monster free kick that the Harwich keeper saved at full stretch – unluckily for him his efforts were in vain as Harry C followed up to poke the ball home. Within minutes our defence had leaked again – Harwich were playing with three up front and our defenders were half asleep despite the late start. With no marking they were able to break quickly, and the resultant cross was stabbed home with our defence static.

Then a corner, and once again we remained static as the HP midfielder had time to steady himself and then drive it high into the net. If I was premiership I would have been sacked by now for failing to find a way of dealing with corners.

Harry LA finally woke up to level the scores – pushing forward he collected the ball off the scampering Chamley and drove a long range effort that squirmed under the body of the HP keeper. The half finished off with us going behind to the strike of the day, an unstoppable effort from outside of the box.

To be honest, that was a good as it got. Although we only let one more in HP absolutely dominated the second half. They hit the bar two or three times, had at least one good shout for a penalty and Thomas pulled of a cracking save to his left. HP could have racked up 6 or 7. We had one shot of worth at goal, and Louis hobbled off.

So a bad day at the office – we did not play well. Slicing, miskicks, lack of concentration, poor decision making to name but a few topics for the training ground.

Harry C was the MOFTM – both he and Josh worked incredibly hard but to no avail today.

Thanks to Val for snacks and James for the line.

Cameron – we hope you heal quickly.

LOST PROPERTY – I now have two pairs of Diadora track suit bottoms, a pair of black Nike track suit bottoms, a camouflage cap, and a dark grey jumper – any takers?
